Don't step on the Snake

PILOTENKUECHE Exhibition at Alte Handelsschule Gallery, Leipzig

Hbridization of foot shapes and chicken rubber toys, the sculptures convey a sense of instability.  In their final stage, they grow plaster snakes and ladders out of them, with one foot climbing and the other attacking it down, they are testing the space boundaries by exceeding their own skin and growing out- climbing the space, bursting into it or perhaps trying to break the air surrounding them. The snakes have firebug’s wings covering them like eyes all over their skin-trying to notice everything around them. The ladders trying to grow above but have to admit defeat to gravity.

To this group of sculptures join little metal toys of chicks on car- some of them are complete, some are broken, and some are weirdly infused with plastic or fur cover. This sculptures, having little wheels attached to them- are supposedly going somewhere, running away, trying to continue, except their wheels aren’t moving.
